Fifteen great thoughts by Chanakya

Recently I came across some very good stuff, I thought will share with you guys..

1. Learn from the mistakes of others... you can't live long enough to make them all yourselves.
2. A person should not be too honest. Straight trees are cut first and Honest people are screwed first.
3. Even if a snake is not poisonous, it should pretend to be venomous.
4. There is some self-interest behind every friendship. There is no friendship without self-interests. This is a bitter truth.
5. Before you start some work, always ask yourself three questions - Why am I doing it, What the results might be and Will I be successful. Only when you think deeply and find satisfactory answers to these questions, go ahead.
6. As soon as the fear approaches near, attack and destroy it.
7. The world's biggest power is the youth and beauty of a woman.
8. Once you start a working on something, don't be afraid of failure and don't abandon it. People who work sincerely are the happiest.
9. The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind. But the goodness of a person spreads in all direction.
10. God is not present in idols. Your feelings are your god. The soul is your temple.
11. A man is great by deeds, not by birth.
12. Never make friends with people who are above or below you in status. Such friendships will never give you any happiness.
13. Treat your kid like a darling for the first five years. For the next five years, scold them. By the time they turn sixteen, treat them like a friend. Your grown up children are your best friends.
14. Books are as useful to a stupid person as a mirror is useful to a blind person.
15. Education is the Best Friend. An Educated Person is Respected Everywhere. Education beats the Beauty and the Youth.

The Winning Way: Harsha Bhogle's book!

Harsha Bhogle is the best when it comes to cricket commentary, at-least that's what I think. What I didn't know till date is, he is a great writer too. Recently I read "The winning way: Learning from sports for managers" a book penned by Harsha bhogle and his wife Anita Bhogle.

I must say it is an well written book with lot of examples on how sports connects with day-to-day happenings. This book lists how the tiny line that separates the winners and the champions.

There were days when I used to tune into espn/star sports hours before match commences just to see how he analyses the match situation. He's sharp and clear in his thoughts and always spot-on with his suggestions/views about the situation. Hope he writes more and more books.

Team trip to TTDC!

Last Saturday we(my team) went on a small trip to TamilNadu Tourism Development Corp.(TTDC) resort @ ECR road. We had so much fun.

For the past 5 months, 4 of our team mates celebrated their birthday(yes, that list includes me!). To make it grand we planned for this trip. We started from office at around 11 AM. The resort is located around 85 km from Velachery.

As soon as we entered the place, fun activities started. The facilities are more than what we would have asked for from a state run resort. We played football games and then we headed to swimming pool. Don't remember how much time we spent there. It was refreshing and fun all-the-way.

Put the glass down. And see the difference!

What a wonderful way to start Wednesday morning. "Life lessons from a glass of water" is the title of the article. I don't remember how many times I have read this article in the past but something is there in the article which interests me to read it again and again.

Bottom line of the story is  "Its important to remember to let go of our problems".

Here's the original article. Please do read this.

20 Words to Change Our Life

One of my best friend shared this video on one of the social networking site. It was the title which caught my immediate attention, 20 words to change our life.

Let me tell you, this friend of mine is very choosy when comes to sharing videos on social networking sites so I thought this must be a special video. And started to play the video without much hesitation.

    Here's the video.

This video speaks about the very basic qualities of humanity like forgive, pray, hope, etc., the list goes on. Its very simple video with small descriptions followed by the word.

I liked it and recommend you to watch this video in your leisure time.

Pleasant Weather.

Here comes a cool breezy day after weeks of scorching sun and humidity. Its so refreshing after a long gap we are having a calm day like this. Though the weather has minimal effect on me as I will be staying within office premises for most part of the day.

My new mobile.

I had bought Samsung Galaxy 3 smartphone with Android 2.1. After using the same for 3 months now I am addicted to its ease of use. The likes of angry birds and Paper toss apps make it attractive too.

Android operating system has really revived Samsung's fortunes which was looked all at sea in front of Nokia in mobile phone race. The phone is bit costly but its well-worth for the features.

I am yet to explore apps which use GPS system. The touch interface is also too good. Battery life seems to be good so far. Otherwise no complaints its a good phone and I would say if you want to buy a smartphone @ 12K range go for it.

    Thanks for reading.

Summer is here!

Feeling good to be back here and writing this blog after almost two months. During these duration I have read so many blogs, some impressed me and some left me wondering what the author is trying to say. All said lets get back to business.

Summer is here and school kids must be the happier lot. They have got well deserved two months of rest after hectic academic year. This very thought made me sit back and rewind to my school summer holidays.

During my summer holidays I wont go to anyone's place and used to stay at my native place. The reason is we had mango season during summer. Those days mangoes used to taste a lot better. There are days when we go on to eat mangoes for most time of the day. No breakfast or lunch. But nobody ever complained about it.

This year summer has just started and already we are seeing heavy rain lashing Chennai city. Such a pleasant weather in midst of summer is definitely a gift.

Academy Awards!

Congratulations to all the winners. I expected that social network would win the most. But the result is The King's speech won 4 awards with Best movie, best director awards going its way.

Toy story 3 is another interesting movie which won best animation movie award. Products of piser animation studio are of good even in the past.

The social network, though won a lone award that too for adapted storyline.

I am feeling sad for Rahman who missed the party this time. Hope he wins more and more such awards in the coming years.

Acknowledge your blessings!

I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels.

My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, 'This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received.' I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.

Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section. The angel then said to me, 'This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them'.

I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the Door of a very small station to my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. 'This is the Acknowledgment Section,' my angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed 'How is it that there is no work going on here?' I asked.

'So sad,’ the angel sighed. 'After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments'.

'How does one acknowledge the blessings?' I asked.

'Simple,' the angel answered. Just say, 'O Lord! Let me be grateful to You for all Your blessings upon me’.

Happy New Year 2011!

Wishing you all a very happy and prosperous new year 2011. Let this new year bring all the good things to human beings.

Last year was quite good for me. I had few small personal goals set for the year and I have achieved them as well. They are all small and quite achievable. I am satisfied with the year passed by.

This year I am planning to read more and more books. In my humble opinion books of all genres opens the window of world to us. They are the guiding lights when the tides are against us.

Once again wishing you all a very happy new year.
